I have so many responsibilities on my head that most of the times I do not get time for myself.
At one point, I've work commitments and target goals for myself to achieve, on the other hand, I meet a lot of old age people and help them out in living their lives better. Plus, the negativity at my home (personal family problems resulting into daily disputes)lead me into depression quite a few months back.
I got myself treated at the doctor and then decided to help people spread awareness through my non-commercial site called depressionsymptomsguide.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2439022946992160518.post-57287462679232410982011-09-18T00:01:32.548-05:002011-09-18T00:01:32.548-05:00This is a great interview and it seems hard often ...This is a great interview and it seems hard often for social workers to talk about feeling down as there is such pressure to elevate others.

Also, at agencies I've worked at the pay is low and the combination of many clients and endless paperwork can be discouraging. There is also a lot of sadness in people's situations we speak to and often their circumstances are not easy to change so this creates a heaviness.

Dee
Social Work ProgramsDeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13488126379315507556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2439022946992160518.post-8289581239407505072010-02-15T19:32:16.576-06:002010-02-15T19:32:16.576-06:00This was a really amazing interview that has my mi...This was a really amazing interview that has my mind ticking.

I am a school social worker and I always hold to a higher expectation-mental health wise because I work with kids.

I also try to "model" for staff by being relatively open about seeing a therapist and having had depression and post partum depression.

I struggle daily with how to best help teachers deal with their stress and really wish schools were more open to the topic of depression and stress management for staff, as well as students.
Any ideas on how teachers fare with depression?

Graduate schools of social work would do very well to attempt to "normalize" depression and I think they should set up clinics where former graduates can volunteer to counsel current students.

Thanks for getting me thinking about this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
